Who is JHA?
Jonathan founded the company in 1990 having been encouraged by clients to establish his own company. Jonathan had previously worked for a number of London based design and architectural practices, on both high end refurbishments, as well blue chip clients such as Unilever and Nuffield Hospitals. From the outset, Jonathan was keen to form a company which provided design excellence, while at the same time provided intelligent practical solutions. These objectives have remained constant and have been enhanced as the company has grown by adopting a policy of employing staff with complementary skills, thereby, enabling JHA to undertake a broad spectrum of projects. Jonathan is on the board of trustees for ‘Beyond Ourselves’, a Christian based charity aiming to help the underprivileged, both in the UK and abroad. Jonathan has been known to jump off the side of a mountain with just a parachute and a Frenchman strapped to his back!
Sam joined the company in 2006 to provide administrative support to an ever increasing workload. Sam had previously been on a career break to raise a young family, however, on returning to the workplace, her previous experience with Sheppard Robson Architects has proved invaluable. Sam has now become an integral part of the company, co-ordinating diaries, assisting with marketing, organising social activities and generally ensuring the office runs efficiently and effectively.
Sam is very much involved in the Scouting movement and, as a result, most holidays are spent under canvas. She is married to an undertaker which goes some way to explain her sense of humour!
Nigel is one of the longest serving members of the company and has been responsible for delivering some of JHA’s most successfully and challenging projects. Nigel is a fully qualified architect with over 20 year experience having come to JHA from SDA Architects, where he worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from Barnardo’s care facilities, to car showrooms for Prestige Client Groups.
Nigel is entrusted with ensuring design excellence is kept as top priority within the company and that all schemes are innovative and well considered. Nigel has also proved himself to be an excellent project manager and capable of planning projects from inception to completion.
Nigel has a keen interest in Animal Rights, Environmental Issues and Music, and has spent much time building high end bespoke hi-fi equipment, as well as building handmade guitars, amplifiers and guitar pickup design/construction.
